God created us for fellowship with
Jesus, built on love, trust and obedience. To understand His
truth, we must first seek Him. “Come
close to God and He will come close to you” James 4:8 (NIV).

December 30 - Fight For Each Other
"Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in
my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit,
contending as one man for the faith of the gospel"
Philippians 1:27b (NIV).
When we are
attacked, the support of the Body of Christ is critical. We
need each other to pray, to encourage, to take care of each
other physically, and to keep each other on track. Paul says
that with one mind,
as one man,
we are to contend for the faith of the gospel. "Contend" is
a word meaning "fight," and it used in the context of
athletics and teamwork. With that example before us, we must
work together as a team under persecution of all kinds.
A
brother or sister under attack may be too weak to fight for
themselves, and if that is the case, we, as the Body, must
step in to fight for them. Through our words we can lift
their spirits and give them hope; by offering physical
support such as food, assistance with responsibilities, or a
shoulder to cry on, we can strengthen them through
compassion. We can speak the word into their lives,
reminding them of the truth and helping them to stand
strong. And above all we can pray.
Ponder, Pray, and Pursue
1. Is there a brother or sister in
your life who is under attack? What are you doing to support
this one? Remember, they are a part of the Body, as are you.
They shouldn't have to fight alone.
